Enhancing student experiences at WalmartπŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“πŸ“š

Our Design Prompt

How might we help Priya be successful at school by providing cost-effective, convenient solutions that support her daily needs, helping her stay on-track with her studies and budget?

Our Solution Ideation

Moving off-campus, Priya faces the challenge of furnishing her space on a student budget. Then, she discovers Walmart attic β€” a platform that facilitates the buying, selling & donation of pre-loved goods amongst peers.

Introducing Walmart Attic

A peer-to-peer initiative within Walmart's larger brand allows users to contribute gently used goods, made available for others to purchase under Walmart's trusted name at discounted rates, promoting affordability and sustainability.

Process

Priya is a student who recently moved into an apartment off-campus with her roommate. She values simplicity and efficiency, especially when it comes to managing her life and studies. She prefers to stick with products and solutions she knows work, so she can stay focused on her academics. Maintaining her budget for off-campus living is also a concern.

Whats already being done?

At Walmart, we empower students like Priya to live with cost-effective and convenient solutions that streamline her off-campus living experience, enabling her to focus on academic success while maintaining a balanced budget.

As off-campus students, we relate closely to our persona. To explore solutions that could benefit students like us, we used the Crazy 8s brainstorming method and generated some incredible ideas while keeping in mind our priorities spanning from libraries, student incentives, on the go convenience, smart shopping, to our Walmart Attic.

We took a pole amongst our 16 classmates and they πŸ₯° our idea of Walmart Attic! πŸŽ‰

Given the short timeline of this project, we focused on sketching wireframes that clearly convey our concept. Our goal was to create visuals that effectively communicate our ideas, making it easy for both our peers and mentors to understand and provide meaningful feedback.

Whats in the future?

  • With sustainability as focus promote circular commerce and carbon neutral shopping

  • Decentralized Trust System with verified reviews and community moderation

  • A fully immersive Marketplace Leadership with standalone retail stores

  • Expanding into a new target segment which drives repeat business and customer retention

Meet the Team

It’s amazing how we started as strangers and, in such a short time, came together to create a project that turned out to be a huge success. Our mentors believe in this concept becoming a reality and are even excited to pitch these ideas to Walmart, which makes it all the more rewarding!πŸ‘
